The company was incorporated (North Dakota) in 1893 to operate a railway line running from Addison to Rita (now Chaffee). The St. Paul, Minneapolis and Manitoba Railway acquired all the company's bonds, and GN began operating the line as part of its system. The corporate charter ceased in 1893. The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam.
