The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. Great Northern Express Company.

The company was incorporated in 1892 to take over the express transportation business of the Great Northern which had previously been contracted to the American Express Company. In 1920 the company ceased operating and the GN express business was contracted to the American Railway Express Company. The company was dissolved in 1930.
