The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. The company was incorporated in 1892 and operated 50 miles of rail line from Mississippi (Minn.) northeast to Dewey Lake. The line was constructed for it by the Swan River Logging Company, one of its principal shippers. The company's properties were all deeded to the Eastern Railway Company of Minnesota (another GN subsidiary), the holder of its outstanding bonds, in 1899.
