The company was incorporated by Great Northern interests in 1897 to take over the foreclosed Superior terminal facilities of the Duluth and Winnipeg Terminal Company. In 1900 it also acquired 5 miles of track serving its terminal and linking it with points in Duluth and Superior. It operated these properties until 1908, in which year its terminal operations were transferred to the Allouez Dock Company (another GN subsidiary) and its rail line to GN. The company was dissolved in 1918. ...

The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam.
