The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. The company was incorporated by Great Northern interests in 1900 to construct various branch lines connecting with the GN main line. Over the next ten years the company built 974 miles of rail line, which were all subsequently turned over to GN to operate. The company's charter was allowed to expire in 1920.
