An incomplete set of numbered general and special orders concerning maneuvers, awards, appointments, and miscellaneous affairs of the Adjutant General's office and the Minnesota National Guard. Some were issued by the U. S. War Department, Division of Militia Affairs, pertaining to Minnesota personnel. Also one volume containing information on the Indian expedition to the southern frontier (September-October 1862), lists of scouts from Wright and Stearns counties (July 1863) and independent scouts (October-December 1863), and Adjutant General's office contingency spending (June 1882-December 1883).

The Indian War pension was created by the Minnesota legislature in 1905 [Laws 1905 c315] to provide pensions for Minnesota residents who participated in the Dakota Conflict of 1862 and in subsequent actions from August 15 to September 15, 1862.
