Philip Horowitz was a scholar of classical and modern Hebrew, a Yiddishist, a teacher, and an advocate of human rights and liberal causes. He served as rabbi of Brith Emeth Congregation, Pepper Pike, Ohio from its inception in 1959 until its closure in 1986.
