Anna Medora Brockway Gray was the daughter on Daniel D. and Lucena Harris Brockway, born at Northwest Mine, Keweenaw County in 1851. She received her early education at home and then attended Albion College. She took her medical degree at the University of Michigan. Dr. Grey practiced medicine in Duluth, Minn. for several years and was married to Willard E. Grey, an attorney, in 1884. They had one son. Outside of museum holdings, no comprehensive survey and inventory of campus artwork had been attempted since 1937. With support from the Michigan Commission on Art in Public Places, 1,076 items were inventoried during 1988-1990.
