Ann Valder Collection. 1964-1984.

The scope of this collection is limited to the years Ann Valder spent working for the Review journal and the Valley times; 1964-1984. The collection touches on many of the activities she was involved in during this period, but the ones covered most extensively are her work with Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society. She assumed the responsibilities for public relations, volunteers and corporate fundraising for Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital and co-founded the Hospital Foundation. Ann did fund-raising for the Kidney Foundation, Planned Parenthood, the University Medical Center's Auxiliary, the Southern Nevada Museum and a host of other civic groups. The files include agendas, minutes, programs, events, correspondence press releases and other relevant information. The collection contains photographs, as well.

Ann Valder and her family moved to Las Vegas in 1957 where she quickly became involved in community activities by volunteering in schools, churches and civic organizations. In 1958, she became supervisor for Welcome Wagon and then as "Kathy Keno", she handled promotional activities for Radio KENO. Leaving there she conducted a weekly television show until she was employed at the Review journal newspaper as a columnist in 1964 followed by an appointment as assistant women's editor and food editor...
