The collection contains organizational records (1964-1976) of the Alexandria Archaeological Commission (AAC) as well as correspondence with the Smithsonian Institution prior to the 1975 formation of the Commission. Clippings (1958-1966), research notes, and archaeology notes of the city archaeologist, Richard Muzzrole of the Smithsonian, are also included. Topics include formation of the AAC, archaeological digs along King Street, research on the Henry Piercy family, and area merchants.
