The Audiovisual Education Scrapbook consists of clippings from newspapers throughout Oregon pertaining to new motion picture films acquired by the Visual Instruction Department; showings of films at Oregon State College and elsewhere throughout the state; and news about the department and its director, U.S. Burt. The scrapbook includes a brochure (synopsis sheet) for Universal Newspaper Newsreels that lists Garden Greens Deck New Hats about Oregon State College coeds decorating hats with "lettuce and stuff from the kitchen garden."

A Visual Instruction Department was created around 1932 as a unit of the Oregon State System of Higher Education's General Extension Division, and was located on the Oregon State College campus in Corvallis.
