Jeffers thanks Wells for sending him "The Delphic lines', which he had never seen before. He speaks of the inspiration for his own verses," came from a long night on one of the Diesel-engined boats that feed Monterey's canneries." He states that he would be glad to see the chapter in his new book but doubts that he would have any comments to offer. He ends the letter by commenting on the war.
