The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. Immigrant from Kristiansand, Norway. Moved from Moorhead, Minn. to Casselton, N.D. circa 1888. Office boy for Amenia and Sharon Land Co., tutored by Mrs. Chaffee. Later worked various jobs as laborer, primarily for the railroad. Hired by Great Northern Railroad as engineer 1904, railroad engineer in U.S. Army during World War I.
