This collection contains the papers of New Haven, Connecticut, resident William Doolittle (ca. 1842-1891), his wife, Elizabeth Richards Doolittle, and several other family members. Included are William Doolittle's personal and business correspondence, real estate papers, and papers relating to several patents (machine capping screws, clock movements, and the manufacturing of matches). Real estate papers, correspondence with the Trenton Watch Company, and personal correspondence comprise the bulk of Elizabeth Richards Doolittle's papers. Her papers also include a variety of miscellaneous items, such as a collection of wedding invitations. Other family members whose papers can be found within the collection are John Richards, the Reynolds family, the Richards family, Mehettable Richards, William Richards, Adella May (Doolittle) Stiles, Edward I. Stiles, T.L. Stiles, and Jeanette Arlien (Doolittle) Watson. Among the extended family papers are school records for Adella May and Edward Stiles and Jeanette Arlien Watson. Edward Stiles' papers include Diamond Starch Company records and financial records.
