Responding to Zulauf's request for letters [of recommendation] for Paris: Liszt wants to know more about Zulauf's reasons for going there: Is it as a diplomat or an artist?; does he want to earn money or spend it?; does he plan to work "ou bien simplement de vous promener et de courir les salons"; he asks Zulauf to write to him in Odessa; Liszt will send the letters [of recommendation] to his mother in Paris, where Zulauf can pick them up.
