Banquet scene--attendants with animal offering for a king (?) [seal impression]. [modern impression of seal created between 600 and 500 B.C.]

Banquet scene: two beardless attendants in long robes and plain caps, each raising one hand and holding the other out, palm up, approach a seated, beardless robed rigure wearing a sword and no head-dress; before him is a table with a stag's head on it. Each attendant's robe is parted slightly revealing one leg below the knee. The table has a cross support and stylized zoomorphic legs; there are two objects (one round, the other hilt-shaped), on the table on either side of the stag's head. The seated figure (king?) has one hand at the sword in his belt, and the other reaching for the stag's head. The chair has an open frame, with a high back and fringes below the seat. In the upper field, a bird in flight, a donkey's head (which may be in the hand of the first attendant), a crescent, a running lion, and a winged disk; winged disk has eight pointed star in superimposed on disk. In the lower field, a standing bird, plant with thick stalk(?) and four blades, sitting monkey, and a dog sitting behind the first attendant. Single border at top and bottom.

1 seal impression : baked polyform ; 47 x 24 mm.; image height: 20 mm.
