Mordecai Sheftall (1735-1797) was born in Savannah, a son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Sheftall who emigrated to Georgia in 1733. He served as magistrate of Chatham County and as Deputy Commissioner of Issues for the Continental troops in Georgia.
