Autograph letter signed, dated : Lucerne, 28 April 1859, to [Heinrich Esser], 1859 Apr. 28.

Saying that he will definitely remain in Lucerne until the end of June where, "in extreme solitude, I shall endeavor to draft the third act of Tristan," expressing the hope that the recipient will visit--"if you so desire, we can take up Tannhäuser"--, adding that his recent efforts at amnesty have been futile and that nothing remains for a poor German exile such as he but to establish himself in Paris, asking to be remembered to Eckert, etc.
