Asking [in 1871] for a copy of the brochure "R. W.'s Lehr- und Wanderjahre. Autobiographisches," saying that if it is the often reproduced plagiarism of the few autobiographical sketches that Wagner has published previously then there has been a theft, asking when the first volume of the Gesamtausgabe will appear, concerning [in 1872] the printing of a manuscript, asking how it will be incorporated into the Gesamtausgabe, saying he had to refuse an invitation from Chicago to help celebrate the rebuilding of the city, that Bologna has made him an honorary citizen, asking him to print the diploma from Bologna--of course, in Germany not a single town has thought of him with such a distinction--, etc.
