Autograph letter signed, dated : [Hamburg], 27 August 1832 , to C[harles] Kloss in Elbing, 1832 Aug. 27.

Describing how difficult it is for outsiders to succeed in Hamburg, relating that, recommended by Prince Anton Radziwill, Mme Munsch, a pupil of Rig[h]ini, came to Hamburg a year before to teach singing and was there for nine months before she got a single student, adding that of all outsiders to come to Hamburg only Methfessel has succeeded in becoming acclimatized, saying there are good organs but not good organists there, that once the position of organist was bought--whoever gave the most money was the best organist--, but that now whoever has the most friends gets the organ, that, as for concerts, whoever cannot execute "Hexen Sprünge," like Paganini, or is not a countess by marriage, like Frl. Sontag, plays and sings to empty seats, mentioning his so-called brother, Andreas Romberg, and their employment by [F.L.] Schröder at the [Ackermann] Theatre, Grund, Heinfeld, etc.
