Autograph letters signed (2, the second incomplete), dated : Venice Apr. 2 1838, and Graz June 16 1846, to Comte Gustave de Neipperg in Milan, 1838 Apr. 2 and 1846 June 16.

Saying (in 1838) that he leaves in three or four days for Vienna, where he will give a concert "au profit des mes braves et dignes compatriotes de Pesth" (i.e., the victims of the recent floods in Hungary), asking Neipperg to send Liszt, care of Haslinger in Vienna, some letters of recommendation or introduction--"J'en suis absolument dépourvu et j'y tiendrais beaucoup"--, saying that he has seen the Demoiselles Thurn, who are charming, adding that "La public venisien a été excessivement bienveillant pour moi.--mais je suis déjà fort occupé de Vienne et de Pesth surtout," mentioning Pachta, etc.; and saying (in 1846) that by the end of the year "nous aurons mis notre volume phrénologique à flots," asking if it would not be advisable (zweckmässig) to have the work translated into German and published by Cotta in Stuttgart, in which case the recipient's brother, Comte Neipperg, would be the most natural and influential intermediary, complaining of extreme fatigue--a friend calculates that since 1 March Liszt has appeared forty times in public--, saying that in September he goes to Hungary and Transylvania, in November to Constantinople, and in January to Naples, asking Neipperg to acknowledge receipt of the manuscript to Haslinger in Vienna, etc.
