Letter signed, with an autograph postscript, dated : [n.p., London?] Feb. 16 1782, to Mr. [John] Langshaw, organist in Lancaster, 1782 Feb. 16.

Expressing regret that certain mistakes prevented Langshaw's friends from subscribing to Dr. Boyce's Anthems, saying that he has prevailed on Boyce's daughter and her mother to send copies at the subscription price, that Langshaw's son George "is highly favored by Dr Berdmore" and that Hawkins sees George often "and find him very sensible, an excellent scholar, and a very well-disposed youth" but advising Langshaw to be attentive to his son's health, commenting on a manuscript [apparently of Biblical commentary] that Langshaw recently sent to Hawkins, and adding that he would have sent it to the bishop of London but that the bishop's health is very poor; in an autograph postscript, Hawkins says that his eldest son went that day, and his wife goes tomorrow, to see George: "He is very bad and you must get him to you as soon as possible."
