Sir Matthew Nathan (1862-1939) served as Governor of Queensland from December 1920 until 1925. During his term, he travelled extensively around Queensland. He also visited the southern states in 1922. He actively supported the boy and girl guide movements, sought to promote British immigration to Queensland and took an interest in the study of the Great Barrier Reef. He served as Chancellor of the University of Queensland 1922-26. He retired to his house at West Coker, Somerset and was high sher...
