Autograph letter signed, dated : Vienna, 27 June 1739, to Stel[l]io Mastracà in Venice, 1739 June 27.

Saying his delay in answering was caused by the familiar fever that chose to visit the week before, that it is said such visits are healthy but he thinks it would be decidedly healthier not to do any business with things that bring us discomfort, saying that Mastracà has both the material and the tools to make what he wants, praising his moderation, so rare among men of letters, noting with pleasure that, having warned Mastracà against gallicisms, Metastasio has not observed them in any of his serious writing, but that he has encountered them in Mastracà's private letters--for example, Mastraca wrote "non saprei come prendermi" for "non saprei che via tenere"--, etc.
