Autograph letter signed, dated : [Bayreuth, 24 July 1889], to his wife, 1889 July 24.

Describing his visit with Cosima Wagner, reporting that the whole French clan is there--Lascoux père et fils, d'Indy, Bréville, Mottl ... [et al.]--, saying that Mme Papier sang some songs, then an idiot from Düsseldorf idiotically played a piece by Listz [sic], expressing anxiety that Cosima would ask him to play España (he could not refuse a request from "l'impératrice de Bayreuth"), expressing relief that she only wanted to introduce him to the Duchesse de Mecklenbourg (who studied singing with Mme Viardot), mentioning performances of [Wagner's] Meistersinger and Parsifal, etc.
