Fonda Ghiardi Thomsen was a textile conservator. Most noted for her work on flags, she also conserved quilts, samplers, military uniforms, and civilian clothing, most notably the suit worn by Abraham Lincoln the night he was assassinated. She was interested in solving the problems associated with exhibiting large textiles. She became the director of Textile Preservation Associates in 1987.
