The accession consists of a 8 1/2 x 5 inch photo album labelled "Pier Construction, 1915-1917". Label inside "Pier completed in February, 1917, reconditioned in 1925-26." Album includes 47 labelled photographs showing the construction of the pier at SIO. Photographs are mounted on black paper, captions in white ink. Introduction to album reads: some views of different stages in the building of the pier at the Scripps' Institution - a work made possible by one who 'labors for that larger comprehension of truth and that more thorough repudiation of error which shall make the history of mankind a series of ascending developments.'
