W. L. "Doug" Spivey was born in Copperhill, Tennessee. As a guitarist and vocalist, he was an original member of the Pine Ridge Boys, a country group created by Pop Eckler. Recording for the Victor label from 1939 to 1941, the Pine Ridge Boys were the first act to record the popular standard, "You Are My Sunshine." Spivey was featured on WSB's "Cross Roads Follies" and "Little Country Church" radio programs. After retiring from the Atlanta country/gospel music scene, Spivey became an evangelist....
