David J. Beauchamp, born in North Dakota in 1940, joined the staff of Moorhead State College in 1969 as coordinator of grant programs. Active in DFL politics, he was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives for District 9A, in 1974. He served two terms before losing a re-election bid in 1978.
