Elijah Webb Brown papers, 1856-1964 bulk 1861-1864.

Papers includes 15 letters from Elijah Webb Brown to his wife written during his service in the Confederate Army from 1861-1864 and one in 1880. Three other letters from family members; UDC certificate of Eula Brown Hart, which explains the participation of Elijah Webb Brown and other family members in the Civil War. Also included are fragments of rough draft of family history and a paper written by great grandaughter of E.W. Brown which includes typed copies of several additional letters written by Elijah Webb Brown during the Civil War.

Elijah Webb Brown was a merchant of Anderson, SC (1839-1891). Married to Mary Frances Hubbard Brown. Served in Confederate Army. Following the Civil War his store was reorganized and named Bleckley, Brown and Fretwell. From 1889 until his death in 1891 store named E.W. Brown and sons.
