A report and covering letter of April 5, 1774, with related documents, addressed by the Governor of Darien to Viceroy Manuel Guirior of Nueva Granada and dealing with current conditions in the Province of Darien, the causes of its decline, and possible remedies. Copied by George Butler Griffin, Engineer to the United States of Colombia, at Bogotá, Feb. 15, 1869. Presented by him to Bancroft in 1878. With another copy (M-M 258B) in the handwriting of Alphonse Louis Pinart.

He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area.
