J. E. (James Edgar) Dillard was the first Director of Promotion for the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1936 until his retirement in 1947. An ordained minister, Dr. Dillard served in churches in Alabama including Southside Baptist Church in Birmingham from 1918-1936.
