A letterbook contains copies of letters primarily by presidents of the company Thomas Davis (to 1804), Samuel Cabot (1805-08), George Cabot (1808-22), and Daniel Sargent (1823-38). (Cont) Primarily records of the company's business insuring ships' cargoes for both foreign and domestic trading voyages. Contains correspondence and accounts with Boston and London merchants and shipowners, including P.C. Brooks, Samuel Williams, Belcher & Phelps, and Gibbs & Channing (of Newport). There is much information on shipping from Boston during the early 19th century.
