William Engel Millner was born in Columbus, Nebraska on May 13, 1920 and enlisted in the army in 1938. He served in Hawaii during the attack on Pearl Harbor, as well as in India, England, and various posts in the U.S. before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel with 27 years of service.
