Levi Parsons Morton (May 16, 1824 – May 16, 1920) was the 22nd vice president of the United States from 1889 to 1893. He also served as United States ambassador to France, as a US representative from New York, and as the 31st governor of New York. The son of a Congregational minister, Morton was born in Vermont and educated in Vermont and Massachusetts. The Rev. Daniel O. Morton (1788 December 21-1852 March 25) was ordained 1814 June 30 and served as Congregational pastor and evangelist in Rochester, VT (1814-1831), Springfield, VT (1832-1837), Winchendon, MA (1837-1842), and Bristol, NH (ca. 1842-1850).
