Commission of Array/Royal Writ, 1386, September 18. 10 Richard II.

Commission of Richard II directed to William Coggeshale, knight, Walter Godmanston, and the bailiffs of the town of Colchester, to array and arm all fencilbe men between the ages of 60 and 16 years, and to compel those who are infirm but have goods to provide arms, for the purpose of defending the town from the attacks of the French enemies. With a note on the dorse: "A writ of ayde to defend the Frenchmen and Skotties from the towne of Colchester."
