These 552 p. were prepared for but never used as a commonplace book. These manuscripts, written for the most part on one side of the leaves, read both front to back and --in reverse-- back to front. Front to back (paginated) : (a) 'Cases in Chancery'. The bulk of the manuscript content, however, is written back to front, and reversed (foliated) and is a portion of the treatise identifiable as Gilbert's History of the Chancery: (b) 'Forum Romanum' (incipit: 'Anciently among the Romans every one might cite his adversary without process...'); (c) 'Rules in the Chancery side of His Majesty's Court of Exchequer in Ireland'; (d) 'Lex Pretoria' (incipit:. ' The lex pretoria are the rules that govern a court of equity..'). And laid in, (e) a 14 p. copy of a legal document in the case 'King v. Ponsonby & others' (K.B. Ireland) (incipit: An information in the Nature of Quo Warranto was brought against the defendant..."). This manuscript is somewhat inaccurately described in Baker.
