William Patterson diary, 1863-1864 [manuscript].

Diary of William Patterson, federal soldier with U.S. quartermaster and commissary service in Berkeley County, W. Va., and in the Shenandoah Valley in western Virginia, Sept. 1863-July 1864. The diary is chiefly concerned with camp life, behind-the-lines activity, and General David Hunter's invasion of the Shenandoah Valley.
