The materials in this collection include family papers and correspondence relating to the Clanin, Weatherford, and Rissick families. Much of the correspondence is to and from Doug Clanin, both personally and professionally. U.S. Air Force newspapers "The Advisor" and Lackland "Talespinner" from the mid to late 1960s are also included.

Douglas E. Clanin was born in Anderson, Indiana in 1940. He was the son of Howard P. and Sarah Elizabeth "Liz" (Weatherford) Clanin. Howard was the son of Arthur and Clara (Rissiek) Clanin. The Howard Clanin family also included Greg, Doug's younger brother. They lived in Anderson, Indiana where Mr. Clanin worked as a foreman at Delco Remy. Doug graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1958 and became a graduate of Purdue University in 1963. He went on to earn a M.A. from Indiana University...
