This collection contains two volumes of Nachgelassene Werke (1834, 1835), by Johann Gottlieb Fichte, heavily annotated by Anna Boynton Thompson, and four folders of loose items (notes) removed from the volumes. Two photographs, as well as a family genealogy of the family of Harriot Boynton Thompson (mother of Anna), are also included.

Anna Boynton Thompson was born in 1848 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Harriot Boynton (Sawyer) and William A. Thompson. She attended Radcliffe College between 1884 and 1902, receiving her A.B. in 1898 and her A.M. in 1899. Anna Boynton Thompson was a teacher of Greek and history at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts, until her retirement in 1920.
