The collection is primarily personal papers centering on the family's life in India. Diaries and journals contain information on the Tuttle's wedding, first trip to Assam, birth of first child, child care, education, friends, co-workers, India and Indians, trips to Europe and the U.S., missionary work, and A. Tuttle's illness and death. Correspondence is mainly letters between family members: to relatives in the U.S., to and from children at school, and between husband and wife when he traveled. Also includes some letters from friends and other missionaries. The writings series contains a sermon and notes for other sermons by A. Tuttle; Assam Conference Reports, 1895-1938; F. Tuttle's articles, talks, and notes on missionary life and India and some poems; L. Tuttle's notes for talks, unpublished articles and stories, and reports on her work in India; and a musical score and some school compositions by S. Tuttle. Photos are of Assam, the Guahati Mission, and the Tuttle family.

Baptist missionaries and educators in India, Reverend Adoniram Judson Tuttle (1875-1943), of Ohio, and his wife, Frances Kemble Davidson Tuttle (1876-1946), of West Virginia, arrived in Assam in 1901.
