The collection centers on transcripts of Taylor's diaries, 1912-1922, with a few excerpts from later ones, 1926-1939. These diaries and some of Taylor's writings, also included, were collected and edited by Gordon Willard Allport, psychology professor at Harvard, who used them to trace the psychological development of a young person and to analyze diares as a genre. The diaries and her writings, which include autobiographical material, reveal the secret emotional life of a sensitive, articulate adolescent and discuss daily activities, interests, and her affection for a teacher. Also includes correspondence about Taylor's papers, Allport's notes and writings about them, biographical material on Taylor written by her mother, studies of her by Allport, and clippings.
