Of special interest is the obituary file, concerned primarily with Lubbock, that contains a great deal of genealogical information. Also of interest is Rylander's political scrapbook material concerning Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, George Mahon and Sam Rayburn. Collection also contains scrapbook material pertaining to the Texas Centennial (1936).

Samuel Taliaferro Rayburn was born on January 6, 1882, in a rural area of Roane County, Tennessee. At age five, Rayburn, along with his parents and nine siblings, moved to a forty-acre cotton farm in Flag Springs, Texas. George Herman Mahon was born on September 22, 1900, near Haynesville, Louisiana to John Kirkpatrick and Lola Willis (Brown) Mahon. In 1908 the family moved to Loraine, Mitchell County, Texas.
