Oxford, Utah/Idaho, High Priest Quorum record book, 1869-1886.

Handwritten record of the early formation and operation of Oxford, Idaho's LDS church. In a January 31, 1872 entry, Quorum President John Boice "spoke of the necessity of keeping a book and making proper records therein of the Quo. meetings, also of the duties of the High Priests." This book covers the quorum from November 4, 1869 to January 10, 1886. The first 59 pages contain an entry from each meeting during this period and offer information on topics ranging from meeting attendance to beliefs and doctrines. The last pages in this book provide "a genealogical record of the High Priests of Oxford Co. Idaho Territory" which lists all men ordained as high priest in Oxford from 1869-1886. Other prominent citizens mentioned include Edmond Hepworth, George Lake, and Milo Andrus. Also includes 10 pages of a ranch account record belonging to A.W. Carpenter which dates from 1931-1937.

In 1864, John Boice and Noah Brimhall founded Oxford in what was then Utah Territory (Oxford became part of Idaho in the late 19th century when the Idaho/Utah border was shifted south). On November 4, 1869, community leaders met at the Oxford school room to discuss the organization of the town's LDS leadership.
