Newspaper clippings and correspondence. 1912-1948.

The album contains newspaper cuttings dating from the years 1912-1929 and 1941-1948. Most of the cuttings are concerned with stock diseases, the rabbit plague, bubonic plague, anthrax vaccine, Louis Pasteur, J. McGarvie Smith, and penicillin. There are also copies of some correspondence between Ray and the N.S.W. Chief Inspector of Stock and the Under Secretary of the Dept. of Agriculture.

Bacteriologist. Worked with Pasteur on the development of vaccines and was manager of the Budapest, Vienna and Moscow branches of the Pasteur Institute. Arrived in Sydney in 1911 as the Institute's representative, and later founded Ray's Vaccine Institute. He developed and distributed serum for the alleviation of many livestock diseases and wrote papers and pamphlets championing vaccination and the use of Pasteur's methods.
