Henry G. Connor papers, 1744-1924.

The collection consists chiefly of correspondence of Connor, particularly with his wife and daughters, and with sons George Whitfield Connor, North Carolina Superior and Supreme Court judge; H.G. Connor, Jr., lawyer and legislator; and Robert Digges Wimberly Connor, secretary of the North Carolina Historical Commission, professor at the University of North Carolina, and later the first Archivist of United States. Among other correspondents are many prominent lawyers and politicians of North Carolina, lawyers and judges of other states, and descendants of William Gaston and John Archibald Campbell, for whom Connor sought biographical information. The papers reflect the views of a conservative Democrat active in the affairs of his state for many years.
