Typescript manuscript of The Commonwealth Parliamentary Library, 1901-27, and the origins of the National Library of Australia, by Andrew and Margaret Osborn. Typescript manuscript of 'A legend in his lifetime: the career of Kenneth Binns and an account of the Commonwealth National Library, the forerunner of the National Library of Australia' by Andrew Osborn. Added in 2001: a letter to Osborn from Dymphna Cusack dated 19 July 1962, and a newspaper cutting.

A librarian, Osborn was on the staff of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Library, later the Commonwealth National Library, from 1920-27. He worked at the New York Public Library and for the United Nations and was later Deputy Librarian, Harvard University from 1942-58. He was Librarian, University of Sydney, from 1959 until 1962, when he was appointed Professor of Librarianship, University of Pittsburgh.
