Leo Castelli Gallery records, circa 1957-1990.

The records comprise the history of the Leo Castelli Gallery from its founding in 1957 until Mr. Castelli's death in 1999. Among the papers are art registry books, auction and sales history information, exhibition records, photographs of artists and of works of art, ephemera pertaining to Castelli's artists (e.g., clippings, reviews, invitations and announcements, letters and memorabilia), original correspondence with artists, collectors, curators, dealers and all gallery business records. Also in the Archives are microfilm copies of records, 1959-1968, lent for microfilming in installments, comprising mostly printed material such as exhibition catalogs, announcements, clippings, articles, reproductions, reviews, articles, as well as some photographs. Among the artists represented are John Chamberlain, Edward Higgins, Jasper Johns, Donald Judd (reels N68-33-N68-34); Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Morris, Larry Poons, Frank Stella (Reels N68-50-N68-51); Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist (N68- 57-N58-59); Richard Artschwager, Robert Bart, Lee Bontecou, Ron Davis, Nassos Daphnis, Konrad Klapheck, Jack Krueger, Stanley Landsman, Bruce Nauman, Salvatore Scarpitta, Cy Twombly (N68-59); and Andy Warhol (reel N68-75).
