Bancroft; notes on polygamy, Brigham Young's family, the Tabernacle and Assembly Hall, Mormon versatility, progress of work on the Temple, social life, decreasing power of Church over membership since Brigham Young's day; remarks on the supernatural attributed to Young; lack of money in Nauvoo. Some persons are quoted: F.D. Richards on Chief Walker, and on Saleratus Lake near Independence Rock; Daniel H. Wells on the siege of Nauvoo, 1846; William Jennings on "The Move" of 1858; John Reese on Salt Lake City in 1849-1850.
