Accounts and copies of letters from Job F. Dye, Aug. 13, 1876, and Stanley N. Dye, Dec. 29, 1876 in back of volume. Includes photocopies of clippings and transcripts.

Mountain man. Went to California with Ewing Young (1832). Worked on John R. Cooper's rancho, ran store and distillery in Santa Cruz, Calif. Later made money as trader and merchant during Gold Rush.
